Call that a burger? THIS is a burger…

Call that a burger? THIS is a burger…
That’s what Paul Hogan would have said if he was enjoying a beer while watching the footy at the ever-popular Sportsbar at SKYCITY.
The mouth-watering King Burger being served in the best sports bar in Darwin is probably the biggest burger in Australia. In fact, it’s so big that any very hungry customer who finishes one on their own gets a free beer.
“It’s the burger that embarrasses all other burgers,” says SKYCITY’s bars manager Ollie Howe.
Here are the ingredients: a juicy 250 gram patty, a specially-baked 180 gram brioche bun, mustard pickles, lettuce, tomato, bacon, ham, chicken breast, a fried egg, a drizzle of hollandaise sauce, and cheese that melts and holds the glorious concoction together.
It’s served with dips of salsa, guacamole and aioli with a good serving of chunky chips.
The King Burger is such a spectacular looking meal that The Sportsbar customers often take photographs before tucking in.
It costs $25 or $30 with a beer.
There’s more to The Sportsbar than lip-smacking food.
Multiple screens, including two super-size screens, show sport from around the globe, including Australian Rules, rugby league, rugby union, football, gridiron and basketball.
And, of course, horse racing.
The Sportsbar has the best Ubet facilities in the Northern Territory. There’s also Keno.
Darwin’s biggest footy tipping competition is being run at the bar with a $10,000 prize pool.
The top 10 point scorers during the AFL season will get a prize with the winner going home with $5000.
All the big sporting events, including English Premier League and World Cup games, are shown live.
“We get good crowds in for the big games in any sports,” says Ollie. “There’s a good atmosphere.”
The Sportsbar is open seven days a week from 10am.
