Regular customers at Darwin’s Cove steakhouse swear that the menu and location literally make you drool.

There is a range of beautiful steaks – rump, rib eye, fillet – and signature ribs.
The beef comes from free-range, grain-fed cattle on King Island … tender, juicy and full of flavour.
And then there’s the location.
Cove is at SkyCity and runs alongside the resort’s lovely lagoon swimming pool.
Executive Chef Steve Sweetman says: “There’s nowhere in Darwin with a view like this. It’s superb.”
Imagine booking into the resort spending the afternoon by Northern Territory’s biggest pool followed by an amazing dinner at the Cove.
The Cove works hard to give people a choice.
“So many menus nowadays are a list of set meals,” says Steve. “We offer ‘combos’ – and they’re very popular – but we also like to let people create their own dishes, to choose all their sides.”
The chefs concentrate on something quite rare in restaurants: capturing simple, full flavours.
“We want people to be able to really taste the food. So we never have more than five or six flavours on a plate. We’ve found that works very well and is much appreciated.”
There is much more on the menu than sumptuous steaks and ribs – there’s also fish of the day, chicken, lamb and pork.
The restaurants specialises in shared platters, catering for any number of guests from two upwards.
“Shared dishes are very popular,” says Steve. “They give people the chance to try a lot of different foods. And it’s also a ‘together’ thing to do.”
And then there are the desserts: crème brûlée, lime pie, chocolate tart … all mouth-watering dishes.
But it’s the old traditional favourite – warm sticky date pudding – that’s the most popular.
“If you make it well, people love you for it. And we make it well.”
The restaurant has a terrific upmarket wine list and indulgent cocktails.
“People who enjoy a very good wine come here,” says Steve.
In October, Cove will offer one of the most popular share platter combos with a bottle of Pepperjack. A new NT taste menu offer of succulent Buffalo from Eva Valley, alongside iconic Crocodile and Barramundi will be worth the visit in November.
The Cove is open for dinner 6-10pm Wednesday-Sunday.
